What's in our September Boxes

Hello Tea Runners,

Our fall tea line up is going to be amazing! We've got some of our most popular teas making a return, and some amazing new teas we've discovered from our tastings.

This month we're really excited about the Kathmandu Cosmos, one of the first Chai teas we have ever shared. We didn't find one we loved enough until this month.

All Black Tea Box & Pure Tea Box members will be getting the 2018 spring harvest Manaslu Mountain Spring Tippy Black tea from Nepal. This very expensive tea is a light black tea with lovely complexity.

Herbal Tea box members will be getting a few of our favorites, plus the award-winning Blood Orange Rooibos.

Dont forget, we take requests to swap out teas based in case of allergy concerns or even personal preference.

Enjoy!

The hot and dry summers of the Pacific Northwest produce some of the world's most aromatic and flavorful peppermint. Believed to calm the body and soothe the digestive system, Pacific Peppermint has a bright candy cane flavor with chocolate notes that give your tastebuds a reason to sing. A very lovely cup of herbal tea.

This pure bud tea is picked just a few days after sprouting and processed very carefully to maintain its delicate complexity. The small leaves brew a malty cup with a thick mouth feel and the enticingly sweet essence of sugarcane. This enjoyable and hearty crowd-pleaser is very dynamic, with notes of sweet potato, caramel, nuts, fruits and spices. A tasty adventure on every steep.

Ingredients: Pure black tea.

The leaves of this unusual black tea are distinctively smaller than traditional teas of this type, reflecting the endless variety and tastes of Chinese tea makers. High-fired and crafted to the local taste profile, this tea has a pleasingly strong aroma and has soft notes that grow to a natural sweetness. The leaves are smaller and they will release their aromas quickly. We recommend enjoying this lovely tea on its own, without adding milk or sugar.

Ingredients: Black tea.

Hibiscus Berry

A caffeine-free blend of floral and fruity notes with the tartness of hibiscus and elderberries to balance its sweetness, this herbal infusion lusciously quenches the palate. Rosehips and essential orange oil complement the piquancy of tangy current and crisp apple. Have it hot, or serve it over ice for a sugar-free fruit punch.

Ingredients: Rosehips, hibiscus flowers, currants, apples, elderberries, natural blueberry flavor, essential orange oil, natural mango flavor.

Water Sprite Oolong

This special Shui Xian oolong comes from a family farm high up in the Wuyi Mountains of Southeast China. The 10-100 year old plants are fed from mountain spring water and grown in a deep gorge that provides protection from the elements. Water Sprite Oolong is spicy but slightly tinged with sweetness, balanced with strong earthy notes and the distinct taste of honey brought out by this family’s award-winning charcoal roasting process.

Ingredients: Oolong tea.

Like biting into a baked Granny Smith apple tart, its juicy mouth feel is pleasantly countered with its piquant notes of orange zest and dried cranberry, while hibiscus lends a sophistication to its finish.

Imperial Grade Green Snails (bi luo chun) is created from young tender shoots of tea buds plucked during the first flush of spring and then expertly processed into these tightly rolled pure bud "pearls" of fresh tea. The taste of the tea is sweet, thick and vibrant with some slight astringency that counters the sweetness, lending it depth and complexity. Be careful not to oversteep high quality green teas like this one.

A fantastic blend of spicy ginger with pungent notes of lemongrass and the sweet tartness of a lemon drop, this herbal tea has fast become one of our most treasured. We love the energizing citrus orange peel, the slightly cloying decadence of honey, and the surprise from licorice root that lingers on the palate. A truly special herbal concoction.

Ingredients: Ginger root, turmeric root, licorice root, lemongrass, orange peel, lemon peel, essential orange and lemon oils.
