What's in our February Boxes

Hello Tea Runners,

We have plenty of delicious teas coming in February!  To celebrate Valentine's Day on Feb 14, we've included Valentine Breakfast in our Original and All-Black boxes - a very nice flavored black tea with sugar sprinkles added for a touch of sweetness.

Also, due to popular demand on social media, we've included a Lapsang Souchong in our All-Black Tea box.  Lapsang Souchong is a famous black tea made by withering tea leaves over open fires of fresh pine logs, creating a very distinctive smoky flavor.  It is definitely a love-it or hate-it kind of tea.

Black Mist is another tea we're really excited to introduce this month. It is a heavily oxidized oolong, therefore very similar to a black tea, from the most recent spring harvest.  It is very flavorful with tasting notes of earthiness, cinnamon, and dark honey.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

- Charlie & Jewel

Black Mist.jpg

Grown in the Wuyi Mountains, an area known to yield some of China's best oolongs, this Black Mist "Cinnamon" Oolong is a special and rare tea from a small, family-owned farm.

The tea leaves are painstakingly hand-shaped and rolled into little dragon-like shapes, then oxidized over the course of 2-3 days. As this tea is slowly worked, it deepens in color and produces a wonderful tea with notes of woodiness, cinnamon and dark honey.

Ingredients: Oolong tea.

This tea reflects the beauty and adventure of the Khumbu region of Nepal, gateway to the Mount Everest and home to the famed Tengboche Monastery.

Fresh spring leaves are allowed to oxidize naturally, and then carefully hand-rolled producing a beautiful, dense tea. The cup reveals a dark amber liquor and a malty flavor, with hints of rich tobacco and a nutty finish. This tea is brisk and complex, with a well-balanced astringency and mouthfeel.

Ingredients: Black tea.

Premium+Qimen+Black+Tea+4.jpg

Malty, chocolatey, sweet and floral, Qimen (Keemun) tea is one of the most famous black teas in China.

This high-grade Qimen was harvested in April 2018 in Huangshan county of Anhui province, arguably one of the best tea growing regions in China – and this was a particularly good year.

Premium teas like this are best enjoyed on its own, as milk or sugar would dilute its complexities.

Ingredients: Black tea.

Lapsang Souchong

Lapsang Souchong is a famous black tea made by withering tea leaves over open fires of fresh pine logs, creating a distinctive smoky flavor. This particular Lapsang is only mildly smoked so that the flavor of the base tea is still present.

For some, all they will taste is the smoke, whereas others will enjoy a vast array of taste profiles as they sip this tea. Try it with breakfast, cheeses, salty and spicy dishes.

Ingredients: Smoked black tea.

Winter Wonderland Rooibos

One of our all-time favorite caffeine-free tisanes, Winter Wonderland Rooibos is a crowd-pleasing decadent treat at any time during the year. Hazelnut flavoring, Bavarian chocolate and fiery cinnamon create the unmistakable taste of birthday cake, making this a great stand-in for raiding the chocolate drawer or, because it's also caffeine-free, a yummy treat for the kids.

Ingredients: Green rooibos, cacao nibs, cinnamon pieces, flavoring (chocolate, hazelnuts, cinnamon), and blue cornflower petals.
