What's in our August Boxes

Hello all,

We thought we would save the best of our summer teas for last, and we're so excited for what's coming your way.

With our busy travel schedule this month, we haven't had time to get photos of all the teas, but we will add them next week.

This month, and in the coming months, we will be including teas from the Spring 2018 harvest teas from China and elsewhere.  We've got some great new teas coming and some of your favorites from 2017, such as the Classic Laoshan Black that everyone keeps asking for. We've also ordered a bunch of Imperial Grade Laoshan Black -- a higher grade version of the classic and almost 3x the price -- which will likely be in our November Pure Tea box.

Don't forget, we will take requests to swap out teas from any of our boxes due to allergy concerns or even preference.

Enjoy!

- Charlie & Jewel

Premium Qimen Black Tea 2.jpg

Malty, chocolatey, sweet and floral, Qimen (Keemun) tea is one of the most famous black teas in China.

This competition-grade Qimen was harvested in April 2018 in Huangshan county of Anhui province, arguably one of the best tea growing regions in China – and this was a particularly good year.  In fact, this tea will likely be Tea Runners' first ever submission to the Global Tea Championship Awards.

Ingredients: Pure black tea.

Famous Six Mountains Pu-erh

Famous Six Mountains Pu-erh 3.jpg

Direct from the Famous Six Mountains of Yunnan, this cooked pu-erh tea can be prepared and enjoyed at any time.

While lighter in body and color to other pu-erhs, it still brews a rich, full-bodied, earthy cup of tea that is hearty without being over-powering, ending in a mellow and comforting aftertaste.

An easy drinking pu-erh tea.

Ingredients: Pu-erh tea.

Gong Fu Black

Gong Fu Black 2.jpg

Harvested this spring (2018) in the WuYi Mountains, this elegant black tea is a great choice for first thing in the morning, or for any time of day when your mind needs refreshing.

Its initial taste is soft and sweet, with a cloying pungency sneaking up in its finish. We love its fruity liveliness, with the richness of molasses and caramel to round out its body.

Enjoy this one over several steeps, noting its different complexities each time.

Ingredients: Pure black tea.

Wild Thai Black

From the remote mountains of northern Thailand comes this rich and adventurous wild-grown black tea with daring flavor.

This is an old-tree, forest grown tea that brews to a vivid and lovely ruby red infusion with the aromatic notes of roasted stone fruit, graham cracker, and sour cherry.

Wild Thai Black is complex and bold, but a gorgeous addition to any tea collection.

Ingredients: Pure black tea.

Lavenderberry

Like a rich and silky dessert in a cup, this luscious rooibos is a full-bodied and soothing blend of fresh lavender flowers and dried raspberries. Strawberry undertones sweeten the deal while aromatic vanilla lends notes of warm pound cake.

Rooibos tea comes from South Africa, and its digestive properties and caffeine-free nature make it an excellent choice in lieu of dessert for tea lovers of all ages.

Ingredients: Rooibos, lavender flowers, freeze dried raspberries, and flavoring.

Blueberry Rooibos.jpg

One of our most popular requested herbal teas from earlier this year is back and now making an appearance in our Original box!

Besides being beautiful to look at, this caffeine-free herbal blend combines the floral sweetness of blueberries with the tartness of currants, balanced with hearty rooibos high in antioxidants. Try this tea after a big meal to help you digest, or before bed to relax the senses and prepare your body for a deep sleep.

Blueberry Rooibos makes a great caffeine-free iced tea that kids will love too —just ask our two year old!

Ingredients: Rooibos, elderberries, hibiscus flowers, currants, blueberries, natural blueberry flavor, schizandra berries, natural strawberry flavor.

Cinnamon Orange Red

Honeybush is a close cousin of Rooibos, cultivated in South Africa’s Eastern Cape region. It has similar characteristics to rooibos, but a little sweeter with a fuller mouth feel.

Cinnamon Orange Red brilliantly offsets the natural sweetness of Honeybush with the zest of orange peel and cinnamon spiciness. The bonus is the gorgeous smell it wafts through the house while it brews.

Ingredients: Honeybush, cinnamon, orange peels, natural flavoring.

Flowering Feng Qing Tea Cones
(U.S. & International only)

Flowering Feng Qing Tea Cones.jpg

These exquisite little black tea cones were hand-made from the highest quality Feng Qing Dian Hong black tea from Yunnan, China.

Buttery, malty, and naturally sweet, this deliciously fun tea is meant to be steeped multiple times.  Watch your tea cone unfurl like a flower when brewed; a perfect fit for our chic glass teapots.

Ingredients: Pure black tea.

Traditional Dian Hong Black
(Canada only)

Stickers---All-Black-Box.jpg

This tea is very similar to the Flowering Feng Qing Tea cones, which are made from the same kind of tea, but instead of being rolled into cones it is in its traditional loose leaf style.  Unfortunately the cones are too bulky for delivery with Canada Post.

With its roasting process and light oxidization, this tea zings with astringency at first sip but then eases to a long and lingering floral after-taste. This tea grows in its complexity as time goes on, so store a serving of it to see how it blossoms even further in a few months.

Ingredients: Pure black tea.

Evening in Missoula

This herbal blend is a wild and one of a kind concoction you won't soon forget. Many ingredients combine to create the unmistakeable scent and flavor of root beer. A lovely herbal tea!

Evening is Missoula is just as pleasing to smell as it is to sip. It's easy to see why this tea was awarded the 'Customer Favorite' award from a very popular United States tea company.

Nestled in the Jingmai Mountains in South China lies a pocket of over 50 villages specializing in the cultivation of some of the world’s best pure tea. Out of this tea hotbed comes the silky smooth and chocolatey Wild Arbor Black, an alluring and dynamic brew with a malty finish and robust strength. As well-balanced as they come, this tea requires no milk or sugar to enhance it, and sings beautifully on its own.
